International artist Jan Dilenschneider finds much of her inspiration in the wondrous variegation of nature. Influences from Impressionism and Expressionism echo in her rich palette, loose brush strokes, and luminous misty vistas. Her affinity for landscapes and the atmospheric effects of light and color create a MYSTERY in her artwork that draws you into the unique painting.  Jan invites you to fall in love with nature all over again.

Jan Dilenschneider returns to her namesake gallery at the Sheen Center to showcase an exhibition of landscapes that exemplifies the spiritual power that light can bring in these trying times.

In October 2022, The Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Center for Thought & Culture hosted Jan Dilenschneider’s art exhibition
Art Unites Us: The Healing Power of Beauty.

Jan’s artist statement

We live in increasingly polarized times, with divisions running so deep that any hope of restoring civility, let alone charity, seems a poet’s dream. But beauty beckons to our better angels and reminds us, through the hands of talented artists like Dilenschneider, that all is not lost; that, despite our differences, healing—within our national politics, within our local communities, and within our individual souls—can happen. At its best, an encounter with beautiful art can, to quote Pope Benedict, serve as an arrow that “strikes the heart and in this way opens our eyes;” to the true and the good in the world.
